Laura Dower
author : Laura DowerLaura Dowers is a British writer who lives in London and has had a passion for history her entire adult life. She wrote her first book, The Queen’s Favourite: Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, while working full-time in an office, which may explain why it took so long to write. She then trained to become a copywriter and proofreader while studying for a degree in English Literature, and continued to write, following her debut with The Queen’s Rebel: Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex and The Queen’s Spymaster: Sir Francis Walsingham.\n\nHer favourite historical period is undoubtedly the Tudor era, full as it is of magnificence, danger and fascinating personalities, but Laura is keen to explore other historical periods in her writing and has already visited the 1930s and Ancient Rome. Other books include When the Siren Sings: A Tale of Love, Lust and Deception and the first book in The Rise of Rome series, The Last King of Rome: Lucius Tarquinius Superbus.\n\nLaura has recently published her first children’s book, Guinnie \u0026amp; Iszy Get Rescued, written under the pseudonym of Fleur Middleton.\n\nLaura’s idea of a fun day out is to visit the many stately homes, palaces, castles and ruins that Britain has to offer, taking photos and imagining what life was like for the people who once lived there. When not writing or sightseeing, she’s usually reading, shopping or singing to her cats.\n\nJoin Laura’s mailing list at www.lauradowers.com for news about forthcoming releases, research used in her books and exclusive content.
